Industrial Ethernet is Ethernet used in an industrial environment.
The terms internet, intranet and extranet are commonly used on daily basis by different people especially in business transactions; however the difference between them still remains unclear to others. They are only different in terms of the levels of access they allow various users inside and outside the organization and the size of the network. An intranet allows restricted access to only members of a specific organization while an extranet expands that access by allowing non-members such as suppliers and customers to use the company resources. Internet on the other hand, generally allows every Tom, Dick and Harry to access all the network resources.
We are planning to install a new network for boiler automation. Could you explain about these networks and your recommendation? Token ring was primarily used in networks where there was a high level of traffic anticipated on the network.
The downside to token ring was that it was typically more expensive to install. Not so much in terms of the wiring but the hubs, or MAUs, as they are called. Early implementations used the IBM Type 1 cabling system, which used a large square connector at the end of the cable. Later iterations were able to go with the RJ connector also used for Ethernet. Depending on what wiring already exists in your facility, you may be able to use something you already have or add additional workstations to network for minimal cost when your needs grow.
An important distinction between the two topologies is that token ring is a token-passing system in which only one workstation can talk at a time. It has to be in posession of the token in the packet; no one else is supposed to be able to talk until their turn comes. This means that if multiple workstations start talking at the same time, they will all shut down, wait a randomized period of time and then start up.
What is theoretically supposed to happen is that one workstation will start talking before the others do, and the remaining worsktations will see that someone is talking and remain silent until the current talking workstation has finished.

Ethernet has since been refined to support higher bit rates , a greater number of nodes, and longer link distances, but retains much backward compatibility. The original 10BASE5 Ethernet uses coaxial cable as a shared medium , while the newer Ethernet variants use twisted pair and fiber optic links in conjunction with switches. Over the course of its history, Ethernet data transfer rates have been increased from the original 2. The Ethernet standards comprise several wiring and signaling variants of the OSI physical layer in use with Ethernet. Systems communicating over Ethernet divide a stream of data into shorter pieces called frames. Each frame contains source and destination addresses, and error-checking data so that damaged frames can be detected and discarded; most often, higher-layer protocols trigger retransmission of lost frames.
Ethernet is to Internet as roads are to the transportation of goods. Ethernet is one kind of technology used to carry packets of information that can also travel by.
The network is two or more connected computer which can share resource like a printer, an internet connection, application, etc. It is a collection of computer systems and devices which are linked together using a wireless network or via communication devices and transmission media. The network provides connectivity between computers and devices within a restricted range where only one entity is controlled or authorized to manage the entire system. In this tutorial, you will learn What is a Network? What is the Internet? Types of Networks: Why do you need a Network? Why do you need Internet?
Indeed, for a person unfamiliar with this subject, this can be quite confusing. In our daily lives, when we connect a PC to a network, we need to plug a cable into an ethernet card. And what does IP stands for again? Well, good question because the answer is: it depends!
The main difference between internet and ethernet is that the internet is a wide area network WAN while the ethernet is a local area network LAN.
