Over the past several years, extensive theoretical, numerical and experimental research has been carried out on the structural behavior of steel beams with web openings of various shapes. However, in all these studies, cellular beams have always been treated or designed as simply supported at their ends. In other words, the beam to column connections are assumed as nominally pinned. Interaction between a circular or sinusoidal opening in the beam web and endplate connection has also been studied.
It is well known that the real behaviour of joints lies between the ideal pinned or rigid joint responses. Additionally the influence of this behaviour on the global structural response has been widely studied in the past centred on the plastic resistance or the critical load. On the other hand, there are relatively few studies focusing on the dynamical response of these structures. This paper aims to discuss these issues. Two types of structures with rigid and semi-rigid joints were considered. Their inelastic response was evaluated using the N2 conventional pushover method, and were later compared to the results from a full non-linear dynamic analysis.
Through this study, a method is presented to estimate moment-rotation M- curve of I beam-to-the concrete filled tube CFT connections. This method is based on the components method in which components are analyzed and modeled as different mechanical models. These components are considered as springs with specific mechanical properties of stiffness, strength, and rigid bars. Their force-displacement relationship is assumed bi-linear and 3-linear. The connection behavior is assumed through assembling the stiffness of different components. In this study, connection of I beam-to-CFT column with bolted endplate connection under monotonic loading, which has been tested in the laboratory, is evaluated.

Althoughthe semirigidity concept was introduced many years ago, steel structures are usually designed byassuming that beam-to-column joints are either pinned or rigid.
Traditionally connections are classified as pinned or rigid, but in actual practice most of the connections fall under semi-rigid category. The design procedures for semi-rigid connections are more tedious but prove to be more economical. The top and seat angle connection which have been traditionally considered as a pinned connection for simplifying frame analysis is found to exhibit semi-rigid behaviour. In the present paper, an all-bolted top and seat angle connection is investigated in detail using the software ANSYS
Considering the nonlinear behaviors of semi-rigid connections, a new calculation model for the second order elastic-plastic analysis of plane steel structures is presented by replacing the general element with a new one, which has two rotational springs at its ends. And the second order elastic-plastic program of this kind of structure is worked out. Two steel frames are calculated with this program.

Structural analysis is the process of calculating the forces, moments and deflections to which the members in a structure are to be subjected. There is a vast range of analysis tools offering speed, precision and economy of design ; 3-D, FE modelling, bespoke portal frame , cellular beam or plate girder design software are now widely available. Modelling catenary actions, cold formed member performance or grillage analysis - all these are now commonplace for structures, where hand analysis is impossible. Increasingly sophisticated analysis methods continue to improve the accuracy with which the behaviour of structures can be predicted. Modelling the real world behaviour of a structure is made easier by the use of full model generating software, with load generating tools enabling frame stability verification along with member checks.
