Muhammad united the tribes of Arabia into a single Arab Muslim religious polity in the last years of his life. He established a new unified Arabian Peninsula, which led to the Rashidun and Umayyad Caliphates and the rapid expansion of Muslim power over the next century. With additional support, Abu Bakr was confirmed as the first caliph religious successor to Muhammad that same year. Ali would eventually become the fourth Sunni caliph. Sunni Muslims believe and confirm that Abu Bakr was chosen by the community and that this was the proper procedure. Sunnis further argue that a caliph should ideally be chosen by election or community consensus.

Islam is the second-largest religion in India , [6] with The majority of Indian Muslims belong to Sunni sect of Islam while the Shia form a sizeable minority. Islam in India existed in communities along the Arab coastal trade routes on the western shoreline of India particularly in Gujarat , and Malabar as soon as the religion originated and had gained early acceptance in the Arabian Peninsula , though the first incursion through sea by the new Muslim successor states of the Arab World occurred around CE or AD, during the Rashidun Caliphate , long before any Arab army reached the frontier of India by land. The peak of the Islamic rule in India was marked under the sharia and proto-industrialised [20] reign of emperor Aurangzeb , the world's largest economy , upon the compilation and establishment of the Fatawa Alamgiri. Over the centuries, there has been significant integration of Hindu and Muslim cultures across India [26] [27] and Muslims have played a notable role in the economics, politics, and culture of India.

As the shrill cries of a newborn filled a Makkan household, the father would feel a chilling sensation run down his spine even as he is informed of the birth of a daughter. He could not fathom a worse fate. Shall he keep it with disgrace or bury it alive in the dust? So he slips away in the dark to stash his baby girl in a deep grave never to see, or hear, her again. Even if she did live, it would be a life without any opportunities — indeed, a living death.
